With a career spanning nearly 30 years in the music industry, Alex is currently Chief Commercial Officer at Beatport, where he cultivates relationships with labels, publishers and key industry players while steering Beatport’s strategic approach to evolving technology and accelerating industry change.
Before joining Beatport, Alex helped support the international development of EMPIRE. He also provided advisory services to Facebook, Rotor Videos, iMusician and other companies in the music tech space.
Past work also includes creating a startup inside Warner Music Group, levelmusic.com. Built INgrooves (now Virgin) ex-NA business from the ground up. Management roles in companies that; negotiated the first collective DSP agreements for members of trade body AIM, built one of the first digital supply chain technologies (Rightsrouter), launched a music service for Nokia (via Frukt), co-founded one of the UK’s first digital distribution companies (alexlee). Many years also spent in record companies including, Sony Music, The Lost Generation, In Music & Media Records.
